About the Woody Hayes National Scholar-Athlete Awards
Six nationally selected outstanding scholar-athletes will receive the
Woody Hayes National Scholar-Athlete Awards. These awards are presented
to the outstanding male and female scholar-athlete in each of the three
collegiate divisions. A panel of eminently qualified judges select the
awardees. The University and Northwest Sertoma Club, by honoring these
six scholar-athletes seeks to establish a perpetual living memorial to
Coach Woody Hayes, with these awards being presented annually.
The criteria for selection requires that the individual:
(1) must be nominated by his/her Sports Information Department,
(2) demonstrated leadership in one or more varsity sports,
(3) demonstrates excellence in an academic field or endeavor,
(4) demonstrates leadership in a socially responsible organization
of activity organized to serve mankind, and
(5) exemplifies strong moral character.
The proceeds from the dinner and silent auction will increase the University & Northwest Sertoma’s
ability to assist community groups including The Childhood League,
The Columbus Speech and Hearing Center, The Audio Oral Children’s Center
and The Clintonville Community Resource Center.Tickets are $100 each. Tables of eight and 10 are also available.
In addition, packages including special rates, program advertising, etc., are available.
The Woody Hayes Scholar-Athlete awards will be presented
at the Villa Milano Restaurant, 1630 Schrock Road in
Columbus. A 6:30 p.m. reception will be followed
