The University & Northwest
Sertoma Club of Columbus, Ohio |
Founded in 1970, the Northwest Sertoma and the University Sertoma clubs have served the Columbus community with more than a quarter of a million dollars in financial support and tens of thousands of hours to dozens of community organizations and individuals. In 1997, they joined forces to provide even better service to the community.
The University and Northwest Sertoma Club of Columbus presently supports with money and service hours the following:
- The Columbus Speech and Hearing Center
- The Clintonville Community Resource Center
- The Childhood League
- Neighborhood Services, Inc.
- A variety of other organizations
Sertoma turkey raffles, entertainment books, and the Woody Hayes National Scholar-Athlete Awards dinner are among the many ways funds are generated for these community activities.
Sertoma International has provided service to mankind since 1912. More than 800 clubs in Canada, Mexico, and the US with an army of 25,000 bring support to a variety of causes; the most significant being the area of speech and hearing. A $10 million foundation funds community projects, scholarships for undergraduate and graduate studies, and increased awareness of speech and hearing issues.
The University and Northwest Sertoma Club meets every Thursday morning at 7:15 AM at La Chatelaine French Bakery, 1550 Lane Ave. Guests are welcome any Thursday.
