Re: Re: DAT is for sure

i have dat tapes that are over 7 years old, and they still work flawlessly, so
i'm not sure on what authority this statement that i pasted in below is made.
out of over 500 dat tapes, i had 2 that didnt load correctly when i initialy
tried to load them. non e have failed yet, knock wood. has anyone ever had any
better luck than that with cdr to coaster ratio? i would doubt it. also, i've
had a few cdr's that picked up ticks after a while, and i only use ty, kodaks
or mitsui's, so its not a case of using junky media. i like to have cd's, of
course, because i can listen to them in my car, but for archival practices, and
certainly for mastering, dat is the best option as of now. who knows, maybe
harddrive recording on a laptop someday will be abetter option, but try to
stealth a show with a notebook, a/d converter, reliable powr supply and some
decent mics.....
just my 2cents, for what its worth
