I don't know about yahoo, but I think it's the case with most free 
providers. I am glad I can use my hotmail account in Thunderbird or I 
couldn't set such things. I wouldn't even know how to post in text only 
mode with the webmail thing.
I could be wrong but there must be also an add on for yahoo in Thunderbird?
