Actually, the melodic passage Page plays is exactly the same but in a different
key - F maj pentatonic - as opposed to A maj, and Jimmy plays it in three
positions running down in octaves, which would make it sound different. Also,
Franny does not repeat it in "Goofin' Around", but intersperses other jazz
swing riffs around the melodic passage I was referring to - it is the exact
same riff that Page is playing during the time you specified in the video you
referenced, only Page plays it in a different key and repeats it, hence your
perception that it is different. Check the the "Goofin" video at exactly :46
and :51, That is the riff, just played quickly, with other notes on either
side. If you learn that one six note run and repeat it in three octaves you
have the passage you referenced in the Zep vid. I learned both and they are the
same fingering even to start, but it changes on the two lower octaves. Learn it
and you will see what I am talking about. If I get a chance I could record them
and show you, it's quite simple actually, but it is very quick and you have to
have a good ear and chops to realize what they are actually playing. Hope this
helps! Cheers, PH
