Re: Fwd: Led Zeppelin and the Holy Grail DVD

Get yourself an equalizer and a subwoofer...I hear plenty o' Jonesy.

You're not gonna get much better than this unless you steal Kevin Shirley's working tapes. I don't think people would've gone thru the trouble of synching the two sources ( condor vid & GM audio ) if they didn't think it was better.

On top of that...you're spoiled. Do you have any idea how long traders and fans waited for even the most horrid of gen video snippets of this to leak out ? The Holiest of Grails?!?! Whole trade lists and LZ groups long pondered and discussed if it even existed...and if it who...WHO had it...ANYONE REMEMBER THOSE DAYS???!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Not all that long ago either mind you! I remember about 8+ years ago when I got the first glimpse of EC via just a snippet of IMTOD & Tangerine on a VHS tape and then had to be sworn into a super secret uber solemn society lest my nads be chopped off by the Ghost of Grant and never ever see a trade come my way again and was estatic to have this blurred, color bled to death, barely audible, video clip. And you foresake that joyous memory by whining about a lack of bass. Get thee to a nunnery!

Why I oughta get my ass down to GEorgia and not only teach you some proper grammar and spelling but also some reverence for the fact that you have a DVD copy of THE WHOLE SHOW and it cost you nothing more than some blank dvd's and your school's bandwidth.

HARUMPH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Other than that, get yourself an equalizer.

I'd like to have a discussion about this.

Personally, I like the source used by Condor better for one reason.
Their's actually some bass in it.

The problem I've always had with the "definitive" Earls Court
Soundboard sources is that they are all treble and little to no bass,
and Jonesy is pretty much non-existant in sound, and only comes in
very slightly when he hits the keyboards, but even then, you can
barerly hear him.

I love No Quarter from the 24th and the 25th, but Jonesy's only
somewhat there, and then when the only other sound on stage comes from
Robert himself (sans Jimmy and Bonzo). Once Jimmy and Bonzo come in,
Jonesy goes off into "we can barely hear you" land. And I don't
believe it was the PA at Earls Court, because I believe they would
have fixed that during the show, or at least tried to fix it.

I have torrented both versions of the 25th footage, and I like the
fact that I can hear the bass and Jonesy a little more in the Condor
source then in the Holy Grail source. The absence of the bass end
just bothers me, mainly because it's bottom-empty. Like it's just
Robert, Jimmy, and Bonzo (sans Jonesy), but Bonzo isn't playing his
bass drum.

Anyone else catch this, or am I the only one?
