"Presence" may have many cheerleaders on this list who get plenty of free
material and fear he may stop the flow if criticized, but I think it's fair
to do a review of sorts of this entire operation, past included, that others
have already commented on. I fully agree with Jeremy Mixer that this thread
should NOT turn malicious if continued, and be a fair and preferably
unbiased discussion.
While I am not a fan of Jason, I praise the concept of a Zepp SHN server and
look forward to their potential, but, for all intents and purposes, it IS
illegal (which is taboo to even remark on, but that goes without saying).

I hear ya and agree. Possibily off topic here, but money is what makes the
Zeppelin bootleg community turn, unlike any other. If it wasn't for the
greedy, I'm sure we wouldn't see as many new sources appear as we have and
will continue to, especially in the Japanese bootleg market. In many ways,
I'm glad that those selfish bastards exist: how else would I get to hear
some of the essential material that's been released and will continue to be
released. For this, I'm glad that people like Jason ("Presence") and many,
many others exist. I think Jason himself has made available material we'd
never hear otherwise. We NEED people like him, even if we're aware of the
methods he went about to obtain it.
How many high-end Zeppelin collectors (I could count them on my hands) are
aware that the master reel-to-reels of the entire Atlanta Pop Festival of
July 1969 was sold anonymously to a rich Zeppelin collector in Japan not too
long ago? Many musicians played that day, with Zeppelin taking up only a
little over an hour. Zeppelin's reels ALMOST made it onto an Empress Valley
title, but the owner wanted plenty of cash that EV didn't want to pay. He
found someone who DID pay. For those that know Jason's unscrupulous
history, I can't help but wonder that if he was involved somehow that we
would today be listening to those reels. We'll never know.

[FYI, I've also never utilized the PRESENCE server in any way. I've been
around this list and it's previous incarnation since the beginning. A few
may even know of me, who in turn would know I am fairly familiar with the
Zepp community.]
