Yes, asking people's favorites makes sense.
Another approach to such comparisons is to define a set of
circumstances--for example, if you could put together a four-piece band from
any musicians, dead or alive, what would be your ideal ensemble? Before
everyone says Page/Plant/Jones/Bonham, let's put on the restriction that the
ensemble may include no more than one member of Led Zeppelin.
Of course the interesting part of such a question is _why_ you chose that
ensemble, and what kind of sound you would expect it to produce. Jean
