....inspired from the drawing, "Evening: Fall of Day" by William
Rimmer (1869). Good comparison photos in the link below, but ladies
and chillen's, avert your eyes to the last pic on there :-p

according to the Swan Song Records wikipedia entry amongst other
sources, apparently, Rimmer's drawing depicts Apollo from Greek
mythology:

Well I'll be...........and after all these years of thinking that the
little winged man I drew on all my notebooks as a high school kid was
Icarus (another mythological character):

I don't at all understand why it would be depicting Apollo, as I never
found anything in the "Apollo" wiki entry alluding to a "winged
incident" or anything that looked remotely related.......of course, to
be honest, I only skimmed over it as it was pretty in depth:

Anybody know why Hipgnosis used this image.....or if the band chose
this image for a specific reason?
Wow.......I still can't believe that for 30 years, I have been
completely wrong about something that I would have been willing to bet
my life on being true! What a weird feeling.
