Wow, Jeff did a very nice job on "Out on the Tiles" (I refuse to write
in shorthand).
I must say I haven't read these Song of the Day features before.
Interested in reading another, I chose "Baby Come On Home" from the
list, having most recently heard this rarity only a few nights ago
when Hildi played it on the Orlando-area "Get the Led Out." So I
clicked on http://www.oldbuckeye.com/sotd/14.html and happened to
notice that it was written 12 years ago today.
Wow.
I'm not normally one to believe in magic and that coincidences bear
some deeper meaning, but in this particular case there may be
something as I have come to associate this song with Christie Reimer.
There was a time I used to call her on my very own. We were so happy,
you know, talking for hours and hours on the telephone. Then one day,
she upped and walked right out of all of our lives.
But Christie left me with a resounding feeling of comfort as she
helped me deal with a death in my family on Christmas Eve 2007. She'd
just been through her mother's own death on the day of the Led
Zeppelin reunion concert. We bonded at that time, and she brought me
comfort. She was not around any longer for the next time I had to deal
with a death in the family, but I was more prepared for it, having
known Christie and experienced her.
I hope everybody has the opportunity to meet a Christie Reimer
sometime in their lives. We would all be better for it.
Best,
Steve "The Lemon"
