My money's on For Your Life. I don't think they would want to fill up 10
minutes of a one-and-a-half to two-hour set with Carouselambra. It's a great
track, a lot of serious fans like it, but it's too long, with its repetitive
sections, and I don't think that the vocals are particularly interesting to
Plant at this point.
There is no song I've ever wanted to hear a live version of than
this.....it is such a powerful song, both lyrically and musically. Even
the Stone Temple Pilots knew this....just listen to "Interstate Highway
Song" I don't know if anyone has ever documented Weiland saying anything,
but that song is a tribute to FYL, and I even wonder if in David Bowie's
"Fame" if he is not making a nod to Zeppelin at one point ("Do you ever
wonder?" sounds kinda like "Do it if you wanna...." While the Bowie song
might be going out ona limb, The STP song on the other hand I think it a
direct nod. FYL has always been one of my favorites and I would kill for a
live version of this. Not that I will be able to hear it!
