RE: Some LZ Shopping Tips?... And Happy Thanksgiving

Nathan

Ebay should be fine for buying vinyl if you follow some basic tips. I buy on
ebay all the time and the only time I make a bad purchase is when I don't
follow my own rules!

The biggeest problem with ebay, IMO, is record grading. Not all sellers get it
right. If you just follow a few rules you should be ok.

Before bidding on an lp check what the seller actually sells. If he is a
regular seller of lps then consider buying. If not move on. Why? Because as
a regular seller of lps he's more likely to know what he's taking about.

Even if he's a regular seller of lps check to see if he's just dumping his
Dad's record collection. There are a lot of people on ebay like this. As
genuine as they may be they might not really know how to grade records.

Read the description! Twice. Then read it again. Check to see if he has play
graded (i.e. played the record) or just sight graded. Play graded is always
better but will probably cost you more - but its worth it.

Always, always, always check the feed back. Even if its 100% check it anyway
to see what comments he's getting. You might get something like, ok but lp was
vg+ not excellent

Those tips should help you get the right one. There are a lot of Zep lps on
ebay listed in the US so you should get a pretty good score.
