Bowie joined Dave Gilmour on his recent tour in California and they did
"Arnold Layne" together. It will be on the DVD.
That could be the Bowie "tribute" they are talking about.

Nech,
When Syd died last year, I read a tremendous amount of stuff about him--
fact, fiction, rumor and speculation-- and at least one thing I read
suggested that Jimmy had attempted to get in touch with Syd in the early
'70s to record together. I call bullshit on that. Page has never
mentioned
it, nor do I see him as someone who was enamored of Barrett's music.
Yeah,
maybe Page caught The Floyd at the UFO Club or like venues in London
circa
'67. I can't imagine it going beyond that. Bowie did a Barrett-era Floyd
song ("See Emily Play") on his album "Pin-Ups" (that was like, '72-73,
yeah?) but generally I think this article is bullshit.
