A valid point, as long as you don't mean to target Zeppelin in particular
with that statement. Every rock band since the year zero that has managed to
get a record deal has been "set up as a money maker."

The salient point being, the musicians, ideally, are talented, charismatic
and play fu@king good tunes. Those are the best conditions under which they
sell records and make money and become huge.

At least, that's the way it was in the good old days before the suits in the
boardrooms really took over. (See Lester Bangs' ranting, immortalized in
"Almost Famous.") And made the masses THINK they like the crap they're
pushing.

Lately it's Britney, Ashlee, the hip-hop crowd and 7-string-guitar nü-metal
tripe.

Once we reach a critical mass and people don't buy their music at Wal-Mart
anymore, but seek it out through the Internet and other viable alternative
sources, mainstream music will be listenable again.

On that note, I think I'll crank The Arcade Fire on the iPod.
