I dunno, Steve. You and I and others with an ear for quality can see the value of audiophile releases, but I'm not sure this demand extends beyond that niche market of older listeners with high-end equipement. As I mentioned in my post earlier today, the vast majority of average consumers today, especially the emerging generation, are quite satisfied with mp3 quality for listening on computers and portable devices, and either can't tell the difference between that and 16/44.1 (or better), or can but are willing to put up with the loss in quality for the sake of being able to store massive amounts of music on hard drive, CDs, DVDs and even flash drives--to say nothing of being able to download pirated music for free and not have to shell out $12 for a CD.

Sad, but, in my opinion, unfortunately true.

Now, where can I find a vintage Thorens or Rega Planar? :-)

MINE!!!!

Considering the crap luck it seems I've had lately, maybe I should buy the mega millions lotto tonite and set my sights higher...
