Re: WHY DO WE LOVE ZEPPELIN

I'm sure all of us could list countless reasons why we love Led
Zeppelin. I know I could write enough to jam the list server several
times over and still not run out of things to say about the band.

Instead, let me simply say that one of their greatest strengths is that
virtually none of their songs sound exactly the same. There may be
similarities, but no two Zeppelin songs sound exactly the same. The
sonic palette was inexhaustible. Even Presence, which was probably the
only album where they stuck to a "formula" in terms of instrumentation
(no acoustic guitar, no keyboards), the diversity of sounds, textures
and styles is immense. As Robert Plant once mentioned in an 80's
interview on MuchMusic, many bands are content to churn out endless
variations on Whole Lotta Love, years after Zeppelin moved on.
