Obviously, I have fallen into my usual trap of using
less than precise language (a heinous error
considering I'm a writer ~sigh~)
In my previous post, I was NOT referring to any kind
of false 'personal' feelings about Plant, Jimmy, the
band, at all. I am referring to the negative comments
(very negative, sometimes) I read all the time, not
only on this list, but elsewhere, about Plant's
professional, musical, performance choices. About his
voice, his stage appearance, his demeanor in public
appearances, his public references to other band
members, his decisions about who to collaborate with,
etc, etc.
THAT's what I don't understand. Sure, you can love a
person's music while disliking what they act like,
believe in, whatever. But I DON'T understand why fans
of Zeppelin so often seem to feel that it's open
season on Robert. Because he's as much a part of
Zeppelin as the other 3. For a lot of people, rightly
or wrongly, he & Jimmy WERE Zeppelin.
That has nothing whatsoever to do with some
'identification' with these celebrities.

many silly decisions as Robert, but loves their stuff
anyway - what tragically little there is of it)

Ok, I'll bite here. Why oh why would you have to like
a person to like their work. This statement makes
absolutely no sense. I'm not saying I hate Robert in
the least, I am just saying it is possible outside of
BIW to like the music of someone, all the while not
liking that person at all.
I really don't think to many actually "hate" Robert,
just dislike this or that around him.
