Re: When you least expect it

You have to consider the source--teehee!

:D

I work at the same Market where the Simpsons originator first started
selling his cartoons. It's a sad, very Austin attitude. This is why
P/P played here to a sadly small audience in '95, and went down the
road to SA to a still small audience in '98. I tried to catch a show
in Denver in '95 and it was sold out--I think that says it all.

:D

Austin has a really suck anti-Zep attitude. I am often the brunt of
very viscious ribbing because I happen to be a fan. I attribute it
to a big singer/songwriter population who all want to be the next
Willie Nelson or John Meyer, not the blues crowd here, at all--many
of them are Zep fans. So are most of the few rockers based out of
here. Sad part is, Nelson and Meyer ARE Zep fans--too funny. Someone
needs to tell these jerks to ask Vanna for a clue, and have them
listen to an acoustic version of "Going to California" at least.

:D

I try, but they are convinced I must be an ex-groupie--I try to have
them see Margaret Moser on KLRU pledge drives and remind them she
used to do that cable show on groupies before she got fat, and
suggest they ask her about that one--I wasn't there, folks. She is
probably the number one reason for the problem--mostly driven, by her
own admission, by the fact that she tried to interview Plant at
Antone's in '90 by using the clever opening line demanding to know
why he refused to allow "Dazed and Confused" to use any Zep songs,
and he told her to "F### off." Never mind it was later found the guy
LIED when he said he'd had all the remaining Zep members come to a
special screening and they all loved it--until his confession, this
town was screaming for blood for Plant "holding out" and "dissing
them." Funny, I don't recall anyone apologizing for that, either. I
suppose that little show at Austin City Limits and the SXSW gig (they
are giving him the Austin Music Hall, at least!) are the closest
Plant will ever get to an apology from this crew. It is better than
stuffing Jones in La Zona Rosa, at least.

:P

You would think that a groupie would have a little more tact. Makes
me wonder about her other stories, to be honest, but Austin is big on
believing big stupid stories and ignoring facts or truth. A lot of
folks here are still convinced that you really can earn money by
spreading Microsoft chain mail, too, so take that into consideration.

:D

You learn to laugh, and turn up the Sixty-Six To Timbuktu to drown
them out. If I was a groupie, I think I'd have tickets to Robert's
SXSW show--I don't, folks. Probably won't get them, either. I will
buy the new album when it comes out, though. The rich groupies will
be at SXSW, folks. I'm just a poor working Celt sorta fan.
