Re: Physical Graffiti Bldg question?

I also don't know the answer, but can say that the address is in a very cool part of the East Village on St. Marks Pl. It's not right "in" the densest concentration of hipster shops & cafes on that street, but right nearby. Every time I've visited Manhattan, I've inevitably ended up on that street and walked by it without even meaning to. And the PG building has a unique facade compared to many around it. Those little faces and window arches are considerably fancier. There is now a 2nd hand/vintage resale shop at the street level of the building named, what else, Physical Graffiti.

I don't have the answer but here's a bit of trivia: the Stones did parts of the video for "Waiting on a Friend" (Tattoo You, 1981) seated on the front steps of the Graffiti building. I seem to recall that there's some other claim to fame for that
building, but can't remember what it is. Anyone?
