I also don't know the answer, but can say that the address is in a very cool
part of the East Village on St. Marks Pl. It's not right "in" the densest
concentration of hipster shops & cafes on that street, but right nearby.
Every time I've visited Manhattan, I've inevitably ended up on that street
and walked by it without even meaning to. And the PG building has a unique
facade compared to many around it. Those little faces and window arches are
considerably fancier. There is now a 2nd hand/vintage resale shop at the
street level of the building named, what else, Physical Graffiti.

I don't have the answer but here's a bit of trivia: the Stones did parts of
the
video for "Waiting on a Friend" (Tattoo You, 1981) seated on the front
steps of the
Graffiti building. I seem to recall that there's some other claim to fame
for that
building, but can't remember what it is. Anyone?
