Re: Robert w/dove pictures that rock

Yes - Townsand lyrics are so deep - I can't remember one - oh...would that include Who are you? ooooo oo oo oo o???? Does he get that credit? I believe Townsand began thrashing his guitar on stage after watching a yardbirds show - is that right? Was it Mr. Page who started that trend also? Anyone?

Please I really enjoy your posts Steve but I have to speak up....

I remember reading or hearing somewhere that to know what is happening in Plants life one should read his lyrics (and not to read rumors!). Well - sex must have been 'the shit' back in The Zeppelin days. Maybe that's why he is so...enjoyed by the females. To have a man sing praises of how he loves 'it' is very desirable. Right on Mr. Plant....push, push, push....take it, take it, take it..... way down inside....

And combine that with the other magic men of Zeppelin.... and hey, that is why you're on this list because of the whole cigar!

Pete never admitted to being a "child pornographer" because he wasn't. In my book, a "pornographer" is someone who takes pictures of sexual acts. Townshend was supposedly researching a book and was subsequently cleared of all charges. I'm not defending him per se; I just think it's wrong to brand him as something he wasn't. Besides, he generally writes far better lyrics than Percy! "Oooh, baby, baby, baby,
baby, I need zooo love, push, push, squeeze my tadpole in a jar" indeed!

As for Percy, he didn't "release" the dove. His promotor released a bunch of them as a prop, thereby co-opting said worldwide symbol of peace. Ironic that this was staged at the end of his "song of hope", "anybody remember laughter" song about
anti-materialism!

So you're saying that rock and roll is about a promoter staging a scene
with a bunch of doves, thereby creating a photo op for an egocentric rock
star with a
60's symbol of peace in one hand and an extremely addictive, carcinogenic
drug in the other?

I thought rock and roll was about teenage angst and rebellion against
authority. Where's Pete Townshend when we need him!?

wow. never thought i'd live to see the day when an in-concert photo of an
R&R front man smoking a cigarette and releasing a worldwide symbol of peace
into a crowd would be considered sleazier than an admitted child
pornographer.
