Auf Wiedersehen, Meinen Lieblingen

Public apology to one and all for my ill-advised
outburst the other day. Private gripes should be kept
private and not aired in a public forum. We live and
learn and we move on. I would ask the folks who have
taken sides in this dispute to also follow that
course. Happy fourth of July.

And since it appears I have stumped my beloved Phreaks
with the latest Zeppelin trivia teaser, I offer it up
here and will send out some prizes to the first person
who answers the following two questions correctly:

1. I recently picked up a vinyl copy of Philamore
Lincoln's "The North Wind Blew South" album. Please
identify at least three connections (there may be
more) between this album and Led Zeppelin I.

2. This is a "multi-part-er" - all related questions,
if you know one, you'll probably know all of them.
a) Name the two chaps who were Jimmy's original
choices for the singer and drummer spot in Led
Zeppelin.
b) Then name the respective bands they were in at the
time - or their career's status at the time they were
identified as "candidates."
c) Jimmy played with his original choice for drummer
on a very popular album released in 1969 and featuring
one of the most widely known Beatles' covers. Name
the album.
d) Jonesy played on an album with Jimmy's original
choice of singer in 1968. Name the singer and the
album and also name the instrument Jonesy played on
the album. Oh what the hell, name the track, too. And
one more thing! Speaking of this album Jonesy played
on, there's a remarkable coincidence between the last
name of one of the other musician's on this album and
one of the guys Jonesy played with in Zep. What is
that coincidence?

First person I hear from who can answer all of those
questions wins their choice of the following flaw-free
boots on CDR:

- - Manchester '72 Empress Valley
- - Auckland '72 (This is from a great source. A+)
- - Earls Court 5.24.75 "Odysseus"
- - Page/Plant Live in Nagoya Japan '96 - Soundboard

Have fun, kids. And by the way, if you're one of the
walking Zep encyclopedias on this list and already
have these shows in your collection, feel free to tap
a newbie and donate one of the sets for him/her.

I'll be back with the names of the winners.

Until then, back to lurkdom and the comfy confines of
a dictatorship. Guten Abend.

Love,
Billy
