Why Page Jammed w/Beach Boys

Page and vocalist Paul Rodgers entered a mid-tour break from The
Firm following their May 22nd 1985 performance at Wembley Arena.
On June 24th 1985 they performed in the video shoot for Willie
and The Poor Boy's single 'These Arms Of Mine' at the Fulham Town
Hall in Fulham, London. Travel arrangements were confirmed for
the imminent restart of their World tour.

The 2nd leg of The Firm's North American Tour was set to begin on
July 5th in Dallas. This date, as well as the next night in San
Francisco (and the balance of the tour) was cancelled after Paul
Rodgers injured his knee. This left Page stateside with no plans
over the 4th of July weekend.

A hot Fourth of July in the US of A. The Beach Boys are to perform
twice today. First stop is the Philadelphia Freedom Festival held
outdoors on the Ben Franklin Parkway. Mr. T is a celebrity host!
Jimmy Page has arrived as a special guest and he joins the Beach
Boys for 'From Sea to Shining Sea' and an unrehearsed rendition of
'Lucille'.

Following this spirited performance, Page spontaneously offers to
join them for tonight's show in Washington, D.C. The Beach Boys
readily accept and they are bused together to the nearby airport
for the flight into Washington.

The Washington D.C. show is another outdoor affair; Page joins
them under the cover of darkness for unrehearsed renditions of
'Surfin USA' and 'Barbara Ann'. A grand fireworks display follows.

Meanwhile, Page is interviewed backstage in Washington, D.C. by MTV
and NBC's 'Entertainment Tonight'. Both performances were professionally
recorded, with video highlights later telecast in the USA as the program
"The Beach Boys: Bring On The Summer".

Coincidentally, the next public sighting of Page was again in Philadelphia,
on July 15th 1985. On that date morning rehearsals were held at the JFK
Stadium for that evening's Live Aid concert, an event which featured the
reunion of Led Zeppelin's surviving members for
several anthemic numbers.

>Just got a great boot of the Beach Boys live on 4th of July in Philadelphia
>in 1985, with Jimmy Page on guitar for the second
half of the show. You hear him so loud and clear, it's quite incredible.

>Anyway, I really enjoy it, and wondered if anyone had details on how his
