To sum this all up. PC burners make faster copies and can hold data file
and movies and pictures. But Stand-Alone burners are much more versatile
when it comes to audio recording. I've owned a Philips Stand-alone since
March 1999. Any type of audio source can be plugged straight into the back
on the "S.A." burners. They have Analog / Digital / Optical inputs. I
can even plug a mic or guitar into it and make home demos on it. It's
really a great device. Only draw back is that some models can only burn at
1x speed, some at 2x speed. The PC burners can burn up to 24x speed right
now, maybe faster. Letting you burn a whole 80 min disc. in just under 5
minutes. My advice. Get both PC & SA models. Blank cd's are basically the
same price now between the two types.
