Well, even though much of Cobain's music continues to mean a lot to
me,
and to seem very good just _qua_ rock music, it wasn't just this that
outraged me about Bono's tiresome, banal condemnation of Cobain's
depression and suicide. Having had problems with depression and
alcoholism that nearly killed me-- nearly made me kill me-- I can't
help
feeling a lot for people who find that the world weighs too much to
carry
anymore. I can't identify with the strange anger that suicide seems
to
evoke in so many people, and I feel a sympathetic pang of woundedness
when
I hear such sentiments expressed.
