Lee vs. Bonham (Jason, that is)

I've read several posts asserting that Jason Bonham either should have been
the drummer for any Page/Plant collaborations or should be for any future
endeavors by those two, or the three remaining members (well, stranger
things have happened ... I think).
What's the consensus regarding Jason as a drummer? Personally, I've never
thought he was a good replacement for his father. Yes, he does know all the
drum parts and fills better than anyone else ... frankly, sometimes I'm
surprised to hear him throw in a fill from the '77 version of this or the
'73 version of that. However, technical skills aside, I don't think he
produces a powerful sound like his father did.
Before a bunch of you jump in and respond with: "Well, who did?!?" let me
qualify that remark. I mean that Jason's sound has always been a little bit
light ... hollow ... thin ... or something along those lines. I never
really thought that he had the "right sound" during his stints at Atlantic
Records or on the Outrider Tour.
Michael Lee, on the other hand, may not mirror all of Bonzo's fills, but he
does possess that powerful Bonham-esque sound. In fact, when I first heard
him on the Fate of Nations tour, I thought, "Wow, Robert's finally found a
proper drummer for his sound." I always felt that Michael Lee was, by far,
the one drummer associated associated with the post-Zeppelin Page or Plant,
who got closest to producing that Zeppelin-esque sound.
Any thoughts?
