the airwaves yet?
I am far from a soothsayer, but I suspect JPJ's latest project will find
minimal time on *any* airwaves. I have yet to hear any of the tracks, but
from what I have read about them here on FBO, I detect Zooma is a rather
eclectic mix of sounds and rhythms.... certainly not the kind of sounds that
fit easily into any of today's radio formats. I also expect that Zooma will
meet a very limited commercial success, and the (limited) tour will not
necessarily serve to impact any of these sales.
Let's not kid ourselves into believing that just because the artist is "the
cool John Paul Jones, legendary Led Zeppelin bassist and keyboardist", that
it will be receiving constant air-play on the radios, or kids everywhere
will be running to the local record shops to be picking it up. Has anyone
even heard any details of the distribution? How many units, outlets?
It will be interesting to see how Zooma fares in the general public, once
the initial excitement surrounding its release dies down.
Cheers,
John
