Living the Dream

There was a dream, and a lot of us were in it. We all dreamed we saw Jimmy
and Robert playing a small gig and some big ones. That they were laughing
and dancing and smiling and that there was this absolutely wonderful music
that came out of their efforts. Jimmy kept dreaming desperately and
hopefully that he and Robert were back together and that things magically
were somehow better than ever.
We've been living that dream. It has come true. And all the wonder and
beauty that those of us who held that dream dear to their hearts for years
has come forth as some say in the real world.
When Jimmy stood in front of the vestiges of his past in Cleveland, there
was the kind of magic that comes from prefiguration. That moment of
contemplation beyond the moments that were witnessed rekindled the anima
of old that prompted him to fashion the powerhouse of Zeppelin.
One would hope that this tour is the link to the next phase that shifts
into high gear beyond that level. For those of us who've gone on with our
lives but waited patiently in between times, there's a legacy being
compounded out of the love that's sprung forth during this tour. It goes
far beyond any of the ego games anyone's been playing.
We can't measure ourselves by how many low gen shows we have, or
autographs or other tangible remnants of the sheer musical greatness that
Robert and Jimmy have wielded here recently. There's a greater tapestry
being woven here and now with all the admiration, and respect and
friendship, brotherhood and love that's risen above all the inevitable
personal schemes and plots. There's a beauty to that element that dispels
the other side. For those of you who've gotten involved simply because you
thought it would make you cooler as a human being, oh me oh my, take that
path if you choose and when you get where you're going and you find the
world's become a colder rather than a cooler place then what will you have
gained?
For those who listened and listened and listened and listened some more and
said after a whole lifetime of hearing and making and playing music that
this was it, this was what music was about, look around you on the path and
see your companions are myriad souls in the rarest kind of communion that
celebrates the spirit in the most ecstatic way. For those of you who just
joined us cause this music speaks to you like none other you're more than
welcome here. It's a difficult lesson to learn, to get above and beyond the
superficial elements of what makes any of us men or women and find that
there's a deeper beauty that transcends all of the surface values. Are we
strong enough to bear that on our shoulders? Will we be standing there
together "shining" in the light of that dream come true? Jimmy's ready to
try something new and the beginnings of it are surfacing.
He's like a young songbird trying out its first mating call or a field of
heady scented flowers bursting into bloom, what was asleep within Pagey and
Percy both is awakening. What a lovely new dawn it is.
Put that in yer hooka and smoke it, children.
;-)
Sincerely,
Shar, The Pink Lady
