"Sick Again" at Copenhagen '79

Ocean:

Well, here at am at home on a Saturday evening sorting out and boxing some 500
Zeppelin tapes in preparation to my move to a new home in two weeks. Fun,
huh? However, it has afforded me the opportunity to toss into the cassette
player some shows that I haven't listened to for a while.

One such show is the second rehearsal show at Copenhagen on 24 July 1979 for
the Knebworth festival. Really, this isn't a bad show at all, IMO.
While listening to "Sick Again" I was stuck with perhaps the most ridiculous
observation yet that I have made. But here it is...

The tone; the *sound* of Jimmy's guitar in this recording sounds almost
exactly like that of the Headley Grange rehersals of 1973-74; the version
where Robert begins by saying "Rock it!". Now, I have heard over 50 live
versions of "Sick Again", but never one that sounded like the rehearsal
version from the PG sessions. Maybe it is just the acoustics of the 2200 seat
hall in Copenhagen that evening, maybe it is just the equipment the bootlegger
used that evening, maybe I'm just nuts or exceedingly bored, but it just
suddenly stuck me as interesting...

Also, in that version of 24 July 1979, Plant changes the lyrics to "said you
dug me since you were *16*" (instead of 13). Funny...

Oh well, back to my tapes,
~Chris Gust

P.S. I'm still hoping that someone would be willing to contact me who has the
TDOLZ CD "The Evergreen" from Seattle 19 June 1972 for a small trade. I have
a tape copy of Lemon Song's version of this terrific show, but I understand
that this new release is marginally better in sound quality and I would love
to hear the difference.
