Kevin Gilbert's version of "Kashmir" ROCKS! Gilbert originally recorded
that for the "Encomium" project, but Atlantic passed on it because they
only wanted one unsigned artist on the CD (Never The Bride). So Gilbert
took the song to L.A.'s "Mark & Brian" radio program, who gave the song
some pretty heavy promotion. (In fact I just heard the song on KLOS
when I was visiting L.A. a few months ago.)

For those of you who don't know who Gilbert is, he's probably best known
as the guy who "discovered" Sheryl Crow. And then when she became rich
and famous (thanks to the songs Gilbert and others wrote for her), she
abandoned the backing musicians who *made* her what she was and tried to
present the image that she's actually a talented singer-songwriter and not
just a tool of the record industry. Ha!

Sadly, Gilbert died of accidental asphyxiation on May 17, 1996.
