Does anyone really give a damn?

This is a great time for us. We have a new live album, a TV
documentary, Symphonic Zeppelin, and new stuff in the works by the
three survivors. However, I am pretty depressed about the collective
yawn the new release has been greeted with by the media, and the total
     lack of promotion by Atlantic.
As several people have noted, I wouldn't have even known about the
VH-1 Legends special were it not for this list. Geez, a Babyface
special on MTV that night got all the hype! I have yet to come across
a TV or radio spot for the BBC sessions disk. None of my friends
(admittedly, not Zep fans) or coworkers had even HEARD about the CD
     till I mentioned it.
What the hell is going on? Why is Zeppelin slighted this way? This
is a band which was the biggest in its time. It recorded the most
popular song in rock history. Last year WNEW in New York had a poll
of the top 100 albums of all time, and only Coda and Presence DIDN'T
make it (only the Beatles had more named). The same station has the
top 500 songs countdown every year; I think LZ had about 40 songs
last time around. They usually win any "favorite band" voting as
well. So what gives? Compare the hoopla the Stones receive whenever
     they do anything.
Oh well. If, absent the big publicity drive, the album does not do
well, I hope that doesn't convince Jimmy to throw away the vault key.
This release has been handled poorly, and I really hope they do a
better PR job with the new P/P album, if it ever comes to pass.
