A rainy evening in Philadelphia, and a fine night to enjoy an hour
Telecast of Zep. An hour packed with surprises...
1.) Steven Tyler's voiceovers not offensive at all, and much less dry
than that guy from The Band who does all the other artists.. He surprised
me as a choice- perhaps Linda Lovelace would have been more appropriate.
2.) Extensive color closeup shots of the psychedelic Telecaster. Good
call.
3.) Page cueing up Sick Again from 3/4/75 SB to synch to the Nassau
Coliseum footage, and another spot sporting bits from the 8/31/69 SB tape.
Good thing I raided that boot store in Tokyo mate!
4.) Ehh mate... Where was Plant?
5.) Didn't really seem like it was made by them- just unsettling to
actually get direct info/explanations from the lads, especially the
strange Satanism denial into Stairway segue, saying TSRTS was a mediocre
gig, and the heroin/drinking bits. Not complaining, it was just
surprising to see wholesale admissions to that kind of stuff. Seems like
a tack opposite the past when it was self-evident (oops) in the music.
6.) I think I like The Song Remains the Same better now.
7.) I can replicate the majority of the visuals by opening up the
box set photo booklet and zooming my face in/out. More like a
"re-enactment" of a Zeppelin show. Alternating people in an audience
dancing with still photos of the band!
8.) Surprisingly good, love Jason Bonham's stories about his dad!
