Dear Badgeholders on the Ship of Fools
After reading three or so versions, Thank-you all for providing material I
didn't think I'd get to see. I don't have AOL
just an ISP.
Of all the issues that Jonesey made a point of during the AOL chat Monday night
the following contained the most emphasis and I does it take much to surmise
there's additional sentiment behind his words that were intended for Robert and
Jimmy eyes:
Question: What do you think of Jason Bonham ?
John P Zep: He's a good drummer, he reminds me
John P Zep: of his dad a lot.
John P Zep: When we played with him at the 40th Anniversary
John P Zep: HE WAS THE ONLY ONE WHO KNEW ALL THE LINKS
John P Zep: BETWEEN THE SONGS...
I got the impression that one, Jonesey is still deeply hurt by the snub, which
has to come out of some of the sharp little comments he made that were meant to
be taken as a joke but that Robert overreacted to and then taunted him over.
However, we all know Robert rubbed this one in a little too far with salt in
the wound. Oh Robert! I would say the following to Robert and Jonesey both. It
stings it burns and it hurts all the way down to your bone marrow. But life is
too precious and rare to keep grinding the blade in gentlemen. Robert, I ask
the queen of the little people to take you to task over your unrelenting lack
of true forgiveness. When you were invited in across the portal, no one kept
the cup of kindness from you. By Farias, we think you know that. (McCue, if you
haven't already hit your delete key, I would suggest you do so now.)
The bravest man faces his innermost fears, that the passing comment made in
jest might be gospel truth. But if he had not cared at all Jonesey wouldn't
have performed little acts of kindness like defending you when you were'nt
there to answer for yourself in situations that still remain a secret to this
day. So Jonesey's endorphin rush sauciness can be a bit caustic. And it takes
you six weeks before you can keep your fists down when you remember the jab.
Lighten up? Whew! You both need to get so tickled that you roll on the floor in
fits of side-bursting raucous laughter. I hope you laugh so hard that your
sides hurt and you can't stop laughing for three days. First with each other
and then with Jimmy. Then I hope that Jason walks in just at the right time.
Hopefully all of you see could see together there's nothing really wrong with
Jason sitting on the drums where his dad used to sit. The boy is a man now and
his entire life has been the drums. The reasonable period of mourning could be
set aside a bit. Would Bonzo have wanted all of you to crumble in a heap. No,
he would have gotten back up and said, "Percy, I'm going to kick your bloody
arse if you lose everything we worked so hard for!" No one would fault you for
a little nostalgia, Robert. Not miring in a bog but reminiscence with a dash of
sentimentality won't tarnish your fiery halo. Who the hell needs to understand
everything anyway? Right? Bringing the balance back deals with wrestling with
Strength and true Strength has a core of compassion when called for. Those gold
runes on the framework are still there albeit faded, good sir. Temperance
blended with Strength yields magic. The binding tie of Zeppelin to its tribe
has always been that exuberance of happy celebration that the music gives
everyone an exhilarating rush and "tingle" if you will, that nothing else does.
Lighten up gentlemen, and make merry for who knows what the dawn or the late
afternoon for that matter will bring?
Sincerely and with my deepest respect :)
Shar
The Pink Lady
(As Miss Pamela once wrote about me in her first book,"...somewhere out in the
Midwest..." Which is exactly what I told her when she asked me where I was from
when we were all backstage at the "Brain Salad Surgery" concert tour at MSG so
long ago.) So who cares...I don't.
As Robert Plant was reported to have said later,
"Who the hell needs to understand everything anyway?"
