Just a thought for possible discussion-I've been listening to the
symphonic Zep cd, and it has been bugging me that I've heard some of it
before! The beginning and ending tracks (Dawn at the Great Pyramid and
Kulu Valley) have nothing to do with Zeppelin's music and sound quite
'strange' to say the least. I know that Page was working with Jaz
Coleman on this project a few years back, before he and Plant joined up
again, and can clearly see his influence in the artwork (on the cover is
'the lady who's sure' and she is 'shining white light', and it is
suggested that she has reached the top of the 'stairway', which runs
throughout the liner artwork and incorporates many esoteric symbols and
some not so esoteric ones like a violin bow! Just my interpretation).
But I wonder if he had a lot more influence or participation in the
music than is credited? Jaz Coleman is very into 'metaphysical' studies,
and is said by some to be 'satanic' (at least the British tabloids say
so!), though I don't know if this is true or not. Page did some work
many years ago with someone else who was openly satanic, Kenneth Anger,
and this resulted in Page's 'Lucifer Rising' soundtrack. That is what
made me think I'd heard some of this before-those two tracks on
'Symphonic' remind me very very much of the 'Lucifer Rising' music.
So-let's speculate! Doe's anyone else hear the similarities? Doe's
anyone else suspect that Page was more involved with this album than is
credited? Does's anyone else think that the evangelicals could have a
field day with the artwork-like the 666 (or 999) at the very bottom of
the stairway? Just curious and interested in others thoughts on it.
