I wanted to ask - what's the overall opinion about the Dave
Lewis's
book A Celebration?
A tremendous work. One that all Zep fans should own.
I bought it a few days ago - there was 60% discount on that book
- -
and it was Czech translation.
1. The translation is quite terrible - I wonder, did someone get
the
money for that?
2. There are even typos in that book, in spite of the fact it
tries
to seem a "luxury" book.
Unfortunately, it seems that your copy is not up to the same standards
as the English language version. It's a nicely designed volume:
inexpensive but well-made.
3. On a few places I find myself dissagreeing with Mr Lewis -
but who
am I to quiestion him?
You are a fan. At the level of passion you're his equal. Even if you
don't know as much, you still have a right to your opinion.
4. It seems that the author didn't try to discover the depths
and
decided to stay safely on the surface of the whole thing...
I couldn't disagree more. What do you believe are its shortcomings?
I don't agree with everything Dave Lewis says, but I feel he is always
trying to grapple with that "depth", and usually succeeds. Plant's work
before Zeppelin. Page's greatest recorded guitar moments? Where else do
you find this stuff? How much deeper can you get?

ya;ll are a bunch of
dorks the way you guys jump to decisions and shit
I'm not sure that I understand JR's complaint. Isn't what this guy says
true?
Are you saying that we DON'T "jump to decisions and shit"?
Only an asshole would disagree ;-)
