Re: Alice Testifies!!!

First, I am an Alice Cooper fan, I liked the music then and I like it now
(recorded). Just because Alice may never get tired of singing his songs dosen't
mean that we haven't tired of listening to them.  With all due respect, Alice
Cooper does not break into the top 50 best rock and roll bands (on most charts)
where as The Mighty Zep is always a top 5 selection.  I yield to Robert's
thoughts that he may not want to try to reproduce the magic of the genius that
is Led Zeppelin.  Let's face it, Jimmy, Robert, John Paul and John set the bar
quite high and in the opinion of those of us on this site are the gold standard
of Rock and Roll.  Alice has little to loose by doing things like American
Idol, while Robert would never do something like that.

Of course, that being said, how much fun would it be to see and hear Jimmy,
Robert and John Paul add a top notch drummer and take us for a spin down the
path of our youth should they feel up to it.

Long story short, I agree with Nech.

Rock On,

As much as I love Alice, this is one point where I'll never agree with
him. I "pretend" to get upset when ever he talks about Plant on his
show. But you can't compare the two approaches. Alice plays the card of
his theatrical shows, they're all based on the same "skeleton" of hits,
interlaced with songs chosen from his enormous back catalogue (several
hundreds).

I love both equally (though in Alice's case it's not just for the music
as with Plant, he, he) and I need both worlds. I love Alice for taking
me to another world, like watching a fantasy/horror move and actually
getting to play a part in it each time, it's pure unadulterated fun. And
I love Plant for taking me on his musical journey and constant renewal,
there's a more introspective approach here. My own life would much much
poorer without all the input I got from both artists. But you really
can't compare the two.

Alice always teases Plant for not wanting to play with Zepp, I'm pretty
sure he only does this to stay in character, he's more open minded than
that. Plant calls Alice a nostalgia act, well I disagree with him on
this too, his shows are better than ever there, no resting on laurels
there. I guess I'll always be "caught" between the two.
