Alas, there was no "letting" this person in front of me.  The poor,
intimidated kid working the desk said it was the jerk's right to have
a lottery and I had to abide by the rules.  I tried to appeal to the
jerk's sense of decency, of which he clearly had none.

I've learned something, however, that should help anyone else who
encounters this injustice.  After several reroutes in the labrynthian
Ticketmaster phone system, I finally reached the retail outlet fan
support (888-890-5051 - now it's in the FBO archives should you need
it).  I asked for their lottery number procedure and was told that it
is invoked whenever there are two or more people in line.  Fine, I
didn't think he was lying about that.  My question was in regards to
timing, and for that I was transferred to a "lead agent." She tried to
get me to give her a detailed account but I wasn't falling for that.
I don't show my hand til the betting's done!  Eventually she said it
was their guideline to hold the lottery 30 minutes prior to the onsale
time. I asked if I could have a copy of their policy emailed to me, to
which she replies "it's proprietary." Naturally - they don't want
anything out there in writing they can get sued over.  When I said
that the couple strolled in and asked for the lottery about 13 minutes
til she hemmed and hawed then said that the 30 minutes time limit is
"really" just a guideline.  Yeah right - a huge corporation doesn't
have a firm policy!  Bullshit, I say!  So, if anyone tries to butt in
on you in the future, make sure the outlet abides by that half hour
"guideline."

Also, I really hope the show at the Beacon is smokin' hot - one of my
TSRTS Midnight Madness gals from high school will be there.  She has
leukemia and can't travel down to Chicago to meet us so I'm excited
she's getting to see the show there!
