Anybody -- *ANYBODY* -- who rates Eric Clapton as a better songwriter,
performer, technician or anything else than Jimmy Page has my permission to go
fuck himself. I would drop my best friend of 10+ years if he ever said
something that stupid.
I'm sorry but Clapton is the guitarist that people with absolutely no taste in
*anything* gravitate to. He's the safe, easy and thoughtless choice. You
repeat Clapton's name often enough and, hey, you just might convince yourself
that all of his post-Derek & the Dominoes material isn't absolute horse shyte.
The guy has somehow made a fortune recording albums that are the musical
equivalents of coffee table books.
As for Vaughan displacing Page... he's the one guy you could possibly make that
claim about. I would never make that claim myself but at least you could have
an intelligent conversation about it. But Clapton? Are you serious, Rolling
Stone???
Lay down THIS,
