Re: zeppelin-digest V11 #3846

Meg,

I couldn't have said it better myself (although I'm going to try now! :) ).
Being someone who wasn't in attendance at the O2, it kills me to know that I'll
never see my favorite band perform live. I cried when Jimmy played WLL at the
Olympics closing ceremony last year, because I do that anytime I see any member
of LZ perform live, even on TV--and even if it's not truly live, like Jimmy at
the Olympics :)

It disappoints me to hear Robert distance himself from LZ, while simultaneously
playing their songs at his shows. But, he has the option of doing that if he
wants. He has the option of flip-flopping more than a retiring/un-retiring
boxer, or Brett Favre (for American football fans), if he wants.

Of course, we all have the option of getting frustrated with him and lashing
out at him. I don't know...I wouldn't ever wish that the O2 Reunion didn't
happen, though. I've only got a bootleg audio copy, but it's pretty amazing,
and brings me to tears routinely (God, it sounds like I cry all the time - I
promise, it's just Zeppelin!). And I can always hold out hope that they'll
release a DVD.

Just my two cents

I don't mind Robert playing Led Zeppelin songs on his solo ventures.
I'm disappointed though that he tends in the media to put down the
past a lot and say things that he shouldn't, but that's life and
what's been said has been said. I still remember after Bonzo died he
said he would never play another Led Zeppelin song out of respect for
him, then Live Aid happened.... After the high hopes after 10/12/07,
I've come to since accept that a future LZ reunion or tour will
possibly never happen but what Robert says is not always set in
concrete.
