TCV musings...

Someone mentioned that if it wasn't for Jones that most of us probably wouldn't like TCV at all...

or something like that...must remember not to read emails after a party...must also remember to mind my liver...but I digress...

I mulle dit over while tossing about in tunnel agony last night and , you know, if you were to take JPJ completely out of the picture...I probably would never have even heard of Them. Considering that FM radio is practically a thing of the past since I've gone XM, and that the only place I ever heard TCV on there was alt nation, and the only reason I ever tuned that in was cause Them was mentioned to be playing on There... without JPJ...TCV would have never crossed my radar.
Has anyone ever heard a TCV song on terrestial radio at all ? I haven't.

Now, as far as to wether I would like it at all without JPJ...I would say, probably would like it, but more than likely would not have bought the cd or gone to see them based on what little airplay they've gotten. Seems that with New Fang being the only thing that got any airplay on XM even, other than being something better than the other new drivel out there, it would not be enough methinks to drive me to a store. But had Reptiles, Warsaw and Gunman been in rotation... I would probably be more intrigued and sought it out.

Now throw JPJ back into the picture and I can honestly say, that yes, having him in there certainly makes me like TCV more than what it's probably worth. But that's what being a fan is all about. sort of... still dosen't mean you HAVE to like it...I mean, I'm obviously a Robert Plant fan, but there are plenty of his things I don't care for at all. Diamanda Galas JPJ was errrr... a real stretch and that has not seen the light of day since the first forced listens. Jones in TCV for me at least, does not fit into that category, as I do like the music after the fact. Not all of it, and no need to rehash my views of the album as a whole.
