I agree Paul
the Four Sticks riff was just a launching for them to get going on
something
Posted as a lively alternative to Pam's take on Ramble On from the J Leno
show
I think Kevin has an appreciation for Zep / Jimmy
Steve,
Yes you are correct they are playing the figure D, D#, E, G. More of a
Hendrix type jam I would say. I was disappointed that they did not go
into my
favorite figure in the song - the ascending harmonized riff that Jonesy
put
the awesome analog synth line on. It's not that difficult to figure out
and
would have garnered a bit more respect from true zep fans. The jam they
did was a rough approximation of "Four Sticks", and more of an
improvisation
- the kind 13 year old kids should be doing in their parents basement or
garage! Call me a purist, but I don't like Zep songs being "Bastardized".
That being said, I do like Kevin Eubanks and think he is an awesome
guitar
player! His jam was great, but could have been even more over the top
with
that bridge section - I have a feeling that Jimi would've put that in
there!
Peace, PH
