In case anybody hasn't seen this...
In a diary entry on Nov. 23, Kevin "The Caveman" Shirley hinted,
"There are some really cool things coming up - in December I get to
record one of guitars great legends! And I've recorded Jimmy Page, Joe
Perry, Eric Clapton, John Petrucci, Joe Bonamassa, Brad Whitford, Neal
Schon, Maiden's Three Amigos amongst many others, and I am really
excited!"
Now that this recording session has taken place, he has revealed that
guitarist was B.B. King. In a new diary entry posted at
http://www.cavemanproductions.com/cavediary.htm on Wednesday, Dec. 9,
Kevin says he got to record B.B. King and Joe Bonamassa together in a
Las Vegas studio the previous afternoon.
According to a separate report at
http://nightwatchershouseofrock.blogspot.com/2009/12/details-of-bb-kingjoe-bonamassa.html
the two guitarists played a version of "Night Life," a track included
on King's 1967 live album "Blues is King."
Here's what that song sounded like in a 1986 performance:

Their new recording is to be released on Bonamassa's next album, Black
Rock, which is set to be released March 9 in the United States.
Kevin writes of the experience: "[W]hat a session - it took an hour
after which he regaled us with stories - of Django Reinhardt, Les
Paul, Freddy Green, Count Basie - what a history lesson. And what a
down-to-earth gentleman, for a real icon and legend - the band who
binds so many genre together. Unforgettable and truly a great honor! I
had him sign the lyric sheet for Joe, who's his friend and who is busy
touring Ireland to finish off this extraordinary year for him."

pic with King.
Kevin's Nov. 23 diary entry also hinted at two other vague pieces of news:
(1) "I am remixing one of Classic Rock's seriously classic albums."
(2) In "January I'm producing what has the promise to be one of the
most exciting 'supergroups' to come around in a long time. But theory
is just that until we see how the dynamics play out in the studio
between these superb musicians. And of course the songs will make the
real difference." In a follow-up post on Nov. 24, he added one more
detail: "The 'supergroup' is just a four piece, and we have an
exploratory recording session early next year. And that's all."
Gosh, there really wasn't any mention of a Jimmy Page/Aerosmith
supergroup after all, was there?
Rock and roll,
