Re: Robert asked Page and Jones to do the O2 gig?

Jim,

Plant was contacted by Ahmet's widow, Mica Ertegun in February 2007
with an idea to regroup Zeppelin for a charity gig in Ahmet Ertegun's
honor, to benefit Ahmet's Education Fund. Plant then approached Page
and Jones to see how they'd feel about doing the show. They met in
March, but no firm decision was made. It was not until mid April that
Jason was contacted and a rehearsal was scheduled. Initial reports
were that they would do 30-60 minutes, but rehearsals in June went so
well that they asked for more time.

Some of this is detailed in Tight But Loose Magazine, Issue 19, and if
we both look back through the FBO archives, I think we'll find further
confirmation if you're interested.

If anyone has a short memory, Nech was pretty disappointed after he
broke the news here on FBO that there would be a Zep show in '07.

Kind of enlightening to read after all that has been said since.

It's funny - back then, many people were saying things like "even if
it's just for one show..." that they would be happy.
