Re: O2...2 years gone...

ive been going to concerts for over 30 years and ive seen 300 or so; 10-Dec -2007 was the most memorable concert experience and Led Zeppelin was the very best concert ive witnessed. And it's not even close. They were so tight that night. I think Plant said something in an interview about the audience on that night looking at them in awe/ disbelief (or something to that effect) and that accurately sums up my mindset for the first couple of songs; I simply could not believe what I was seeing or hearing! Are they really playing Good Times, Bad Times?! Is that the famous Zoso symbol on the amps? I just could not fucking believe I was seeing Led Zeppelin!

I had been watching the Led Zeppelin DVD before the show and remember thinking, after the Earls Court portion, how incredible it would be to hear "In my time of Dying." And there it was -- seemingly as powerful as the Earls Court version. Dazed and Confused? I remember thinking -- wouldn't it have been great to have seen the laser pyramid from the '77 tour during the bow segment? And there it was! So many great moments--For your Life, Kashmir (as good or better than any previous live version!), TSRTS, Nobody's Fault , Misty Mountain Hop, WLL

In the end, I think ill always remember how much they seemed to enjoy themselves (including Robert!). Of course, ill also remember how a few minutes after the doors opened, nearly every t-shirt was sold out!

"But the band that played underneath those memories last night was not the one that misfired at Live Aid in 1985 or again in New York in 1988. This one was rehearsed, ready and out to kill. This band was Led Zeppelin in every way." David Fricke - Rolling Stone

How much fun did they have on stage?

Here is the review by David Fricke, which includes the quote above.

Here is a great review by Kevin Shirley (though i disagree about the lasers in WLL -- I loved it!):
