Re: O2...2 years gone...

I just finsihed it! Mama went Shopping , so I had the living room to myself,
Blu ray, and about all the system could push, on the big screen.... Not quite
London, but the closest I will come to it..
Wish I could have made it, like you Nech, and so many others, this band was the
soundtrack of my life, just about every song can invoke a memory of some sort,
from the first time I heard IV, which was my intro to them, to that time in 9th
grade, when she cheated, and I played sibly 50,000,00 times in the span of a
week while hiding in my room wondering if I would ever be able to get over her.
Then dazed, full blast, in the back of the van on the way into the city,
trippin balls, freaking out to jimmys guitar speaking to me.. thank you at the
wedding...it goes on and on.
I have heard a LOT of music, but there has never ever been a band, whether it
be rock or pop or country, electronica, whatever, that could actually touch me
the way zep does. You dont hear their music, you feel it, you become one with
it, its truly sick, and if I didnt know there were all the rest of you out
there that feel the same way, I would think there was something wrong with me!
My wife tells me all the time, "how can you listen to the same songs, over and
over?" Its simple, they are never the same, they all take on a new meaning,
everytime, be it a studio cut or thirty minutes of rippin jazzy guitar on
NQ, no one will ever compare to the wielders of the Hammer of the Gods!!!
imagine that,  at our ages, hero worship....

Subject: O2...2 years gone...

I find it really hard to believe that 2 years have past since I had the
ultimate priviledge of witnessing Led Zeppelin live at the Ahmet Ertegun
Tribute concert at the O2 Arena, London U.K.

I kid you not people...just like 2 years ago, I got tears in my eyes. I ain't
afraid to say that. It was that moving.

Led Zeppelin means the world to me. Their music has been a part of my life
since I first learned to appreciate it enough to have a favorite style and
artist. Surrounded by Beatles, Stones, Who, classical, Ukrainian traditional &
folk since birth, there was something in particular about Led Zeppelin that
just reached out and touched me.  Their mystique, their sound, their look,
their sheer power...all of it... took over, and I was hooked.

So being there... actually having been THERE...for this beyond comprehesion
immense and important event in modern musical history... it was trully this
guy's most incredible dream come true. Then add on top of that, the fact that
this band that had in all reality came to a halt 27 years earlier absolutely
put on an incredible show, it was and still is beyond my ability to trully
convey to you all just  how phenomenal it all was.

I wish to thank first and foremost the people that made that dream come true to
me. You know who you are, and I am forever and ever and forever indebted and
grateful to you.  Outside of the emotional highs of my family, wife and
children...nothing has ever made me happier. I thank you.

Then the biggest thanks go to this list and current and former admins thru whom
my existence and love for this band were made visible to the band itself and
afforded me the opportunities of a lifetime. Bob, Bruce, Jeremy  thanks. Thanks
for helping make my dreams come true.

It is very sad that 2 years later there is no official release from the band of
this event. I do not know nor wish to comment or speculate as to why that has
not happened. It just hasn't and for this and millions of lifelong fans it is a
bummer. Thankfully though, through the marvels of modern technology,  we do have
a very good record both visual and audible to remind us of how great they were
and still can be, and I wish to thank the people that risked it all to make
that possible. Ironic to be thanking essentially people the industry frowns
upon, but dammit... from day one..it was and still is the live music of Led
Zeppelin that trully made them a tour de force, and having all these wonderful
historical records of that available to us fans is trully a blessing. It's hard
to be a fan and not be a hypocrite if you know what I mean. I never want to see
my bands rightfully earned monies not go into their hands, but at the same
time..if it wasn't for some enterprising bootleggers, alot of what we drool
over would not be around. Well, maybe, but surely within a lot smaller
audience.  To the hundred probably of folks that I have traded with freely for
all these years, I am grateful that this hobby and fandom exists, and 'eye
thank yew' as well for making the live
history of Led Zeppelin available to this fan.

Break out whatever version you have today of O2, play it loud and enjoy the
fact that we are here to actually enjoy it. I was reminded just how fragile
life is this year, and appreciate every day now more than ever. Play it often,
Play it loud.

And remember....

WE ARE THE OCEAN...
