Re: anybody checked gn'r "chinese democracy" ?

Hello Jon...Spirit of 88 is a fantastic release which I have been playing non stop since I got it.....

The band is in top form and Slash's playing is stellar..............

I had the privilege of seeing the original band 3X and also 3X after Izzy and Steven Adler were tossed out before they imploded in 93...There was no comparison as the later version could not hold a candle to the original.....

The new album is not bad compared to most of the new music being released but it is ridiculous for Axl to pass it off as GnR...

Imagine if Robert put together a band of back up musicians and toured as Led Zeppelin!!!

Thanks for the recommendation. Im glad I saw G n R when they still had Izzy in the band (and still tore it up)!

With respect to the new album - its actually better than I thought it would be, though clearly overproduced and not very cohesive (as one would expect given the history of the record). Lots of good musicians and a few good riffs, but not really GnR. And you will never see album/ song credits like this -- 14 studios, numerous musicians. For example, "There was a Time" lists 6 guitarists, 2 drummers, 3 keyboardists, 1 piano, an orchestra, mellotron and more!

If you want some GnR at the top of their game, before they started making the big money and Axl got LSD (Lead Singers Disease), get a copy of this new boot which just came out.....Other then the MTV Ritz show this is probably the best live boot I have heard from the Appetite era...........

It will remind you what all the fuss was about before they self destructed...........

After listening to it once when it was broadcast, I really found no desire to go out and procure a copy, wether legitimately or not. It did nothing for me...and frankly Use you illusions 1 & 2 were already the downfall for me. Otyher than Get in the Ring, I do not even think I can name another song off the set. Not a real fan of GnR but when Appetite came out, THAT did get my
attention and to date it still rocks.

Seems like the only song left getting any airplay from CD is "Better "( I
think )

Actually not a bad effort with some good songs...........but Guns N' Roses
it ain't...

The real Guns N' Roses, one of the last great rock bands, ceased to exist when Izzy left or was kicked out of the band, depending on which story you
believe........

After they jumped the shark................

Axl is a very talented song writer and vocalist but IMHO he should do the
honarable thing and call it what it is...........an Axl Rose Band
album..........
