First off, Jimmy gave Jason a shot with Outrider, more specifically the tour
(since he didn't play on all of the studio tracks). So it's not like he's
never been involved in any new material from Jimmy. Secondly, JPJ at the
Manson show was very eager to tell people how happy he is playing with Jason.
He has no reason to be insincere. The O2 was in many respects for Jason's
benefit, and perhaps the nice things said on his behalf could have been spun a
little for the sake of his feelings, but the O2 is long over. The 3 of them
are continuing to play together because they have become a cohesive
instrumental unit. JPJ said right after the O2 he wanted to find an excuse to
play with Jimmy again. So oddly enough, JPJ seems to be the glue that is
binding the whole thing together.
The question I have is whether they are doing anything in these rehearsals
other than just running through Zep covers. JPJ has only spoken in
generalities about what they are doing is "sounding great" but that doesn't
really tell us anything.
