Re: Jugula

I think most if NOT ALL that the Jimmy solo stuff is VASTLY underrated
So most of it hasn't got blistering leads on it but if I go back and ACTUALLY LISTEN to it. I just love it.Death Wish 2 has got some beautiful moments on it I think That early 80's stuff really brings some magical memories for me!

I would agree that there's not much lead guitar work on Jugula. I
think one could say that Roy Harper's music is kind of an acquired
taste, and I was definitely a little disappointed when I first got
this, hoping to hear some great Page acoustic playing. It's a bit of
a tough listen - exponentially tougher than Walking into Clarksdale,
in my opinion. Totally different than Death Wish II, of course,
purely because this is Page playing on a Harper album rather than Page
working on something for himself (in the case of DW2).

I'm not that familiar with Page's Lucifer Rising material - I've only
heard snippets - but supposedly a lot of the DW2 stuff bears a lot of
resemblance to the Lucifer Rising stuff.

Here's Wikipedia's entry... I would wager the author was probably a Jimmy fan...

I don't recall a lot of leadwork on Jugula. Jimmy did a lot of strumming on a very quacky-sounding Ovation. I really think he was just along for there as part of his healing process.
