Re: zeppelin-digest V10 #3570

My choices are somewhat obvious and would agree with many of those already mentioned..As with others they change with time and mood.....in no particular order

1. Uniondale, 2-14-75 (New SB here, outstanding)..Love the MSG show 2 days before but this is a better performance I think... 2. SBD 1969.04.27 San Francisco, Fillmore West.....Just a great show and recording..the band is still making a name for themselves, Robert could hit all the high notes and Jimmy's playing is stellar...This would be my Time Tunnel ( I loved that cheesy show as a kid...) pick if I could go back in time to attend one Zep show.....SF is a favorite city for me and it would have been amazing hanging there back in 69 and seeing a Zep show at the Fillmore...... 3. AUD 1971.09.29 Osaka, Japan...Another great recording of the band at their height of power before the excesses of the road started to take their toll.... 4. AUD 1972.06.25 Inglewood, LA Forum.....I like this better then the HTWWW official release which is too over produced for my taste and kills the atmosphere for me....This a nice recording which if you listen to with headphones in the dark with a few favorite liquid or herbal intoxicants..makes you feel as if you are there............. 5. AUD 1977.4.77 Richman Coliseum, Cleveland...Great atmosphere and maybe the best show of 77...I love the June 77 LA Forum shows but the band sounds tired at times and while the 77 MSG shows would get a vote the recordings are mediocre at best...a shame.....hopefully better sources will surface someday.........

This site seems to be out of favour with hard core Zep fans these days but this is a good resource for best shows with some of the less obvious choices mentioned
