Bummed to hear about Michael Lee's passing..I consider 39 to be WAY TOO YOUNG
to go...a fairly young guy with lots of music ahead of him to give us...saw him
with P&P 3 times, always considered him to be a good drummer...Page must have
agreed, as Lee played that live thing with Page where they did 'Domino'....one
never knows when one's time is up, and hopefully his passing wasn't hastened by
any excess on his part..I had to call my friend Steve and inform him that his
'list' had another victim...Steve has been my close friend for years, and back
in the day, we started to notice a pattern- often, if Steve would go see
someone live, in person, someone would die...I started calling it 'Steve's
Curse'...a few of his previous victims:
Bon Scott
Randy Rhodes
Stevie Ray Vaughan
Steve Marriott
Benjamin Orr
Cliff Burton
Steve the guitar player from Def Leppard *
John Bonham (?)
John Entwistle
Michael Lee
the guy from Amgel
Rory Gallagher
and others I can't think of offhand..
Its debatable whether Bonzo was really a victim- Steve never actually SAW him,
BUT, in 1980, the night Zep tickets were going on sale for their Chicago shows
(mail-order only), we gave Steve's Mom the money for the tix, she wrote us a
check to mail in for the tix, we dropped it in mail as soon as address was
published, eventually went home that night, then woke up the very next morning
to the news of Bonzo's death...a letter from the owner of Chicago Stadium came
in the mail a few weeks after, and supposedly, those who received this letter
WOULD HAVE gotten tickets...so, its been debated for years...
* Def Leppard got a double-whammy from Steve's Curse..not only did the guita
