Re: We Are All Going to Hell (ZC)

Here we go again! Don't these guys ever change the bloody record? Frank, you are
quite right; John Phillips wrote San Fransisco for a friend of theirs- a DJ by
the name of Scott McKenzie. As for the selective hearing thing, a friend of
mine insisted that the band were encouraging everyone to get acquainted with
Anton Levy in "When The Levee Breaks". Nothing I said would sway him so I
decided that the adage "You can't argue with a closed mind" totally applied to
this guy and his incredibly harsh fundamentalist beliefs. People will believe
what they want as long as it fits in with their world view, sad but true

Also, he is singing lyrics written by John Phillips of the Mamas & the
Funny how this idiot left out that slightly important fact.
Then again he directly mentioned Nobody's Fault But Mine and that song is a
Blind Willie Johnson song. Blind Willie Johnson was a deeply religious man
who would not even consider his music blues because Blues was the Devils

Author Tom Friend asserts Robert Plant commands us to sell our soul to the
devil by
singing "If your going to San Francisco, be sure to wear flowers in your
hair. If your
going to San Francisco, your gonna meet a lotta DEVIL people there". The
missionary has apparently applied Friend's theory to the film TSRTS. FWIW,
at one
time I was contacted by Friend (concert photos I'd taken of Jimmy are
published in
his book) and I went to great lengths to explain to him the lyrical passage
as sung
by Robert Plant is "...GENTLE people there". He simply would not agree with

Now then, Christie, about your "garden"...
